Tips for Picking the Right Jean

Having the right jean can make all the difference in your outfit. Consider the following when choosing your next pair of jeans.

Tall People

The average jean hem is 32-inches inseam but today you can find more jeans with a 36-inch inseam hem. If you find jeans that are a little short take the hem out but make sure the hem hits the bottom of your heel. Rock & Republic , Habitual, and Citizen of Humanity are great jeans to try if you are taller than average.

Petites

If you are petite finding jeans that don’t drag the ground can be just as challenging as finding jeans long enough when you are tall. A good cut for a petite woman is a straight leg jean, as it will give a long and lean look for your legs. Also, unlike a boot cut or wide leg jean, the straight leg jean can easily be shortened without destroying the structure of the jean.  A suggestion is to try Express, Banana Republic, and Caslon.

Curvy

Finding the right rise that fits the crotch correctly is a major plus. Avoid jeans that have flap pockets or large designs (embroidery) on the rear. A suggestion is to try Cititzens of Humanity or Seven jeans.

Not so Curvy

If you are not curvy and have a smaller rear, you should look for jeans with flap pockets or large designs (embroidery). This will help bring attention to the rear area and can help make the butt look lifted.  A suggestion would be Hudson, Joe’s Jeans, and True Religion.
